STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR REWORKING RESINS AT DRYERS OR REACTORS
A
The efficient selvage of prime resins by reworking into in-process product requires the utmost care of the persons involved. Experience has shown that careless reworking of one drum of bad material can ruin more than 100,000 pounds of good product.
1. Drummed and bagged resin must be checked carefully by shift foremen and persons d lug the work to assure the quality of the resin is such that down grading of prime product will not occur.
2. Bagged resin that has a lot number should be checked through control lab records t learn the test results on that resin.
3. "Stock Returned to process" sheets must be made out for all resin that is raw rked that has been previously recorded by lot number. Also resin that has not been previously recorded by lot number must bevshown on Stock Returned to Process sheet by type end weight and as "Not Previously Recorded."
4. Drummed resin being reworked at dryers or reactors must be bailed from the drum Into the reactor or rework hopper and care must be used to be sure the resin being reworked is not contaminated. Although resin near the top of a drum may appear clean, experience has shown that the contents of the lower part of the drums may contain dirt, trash and even sand. Drums of resin are not to be reworked by up-ending the drums and dumping them into the hoppers or reactors.
Also, when reworking begged resin care mu*t be used to prevent any of the parts of paper bags from falling into the hoppers or reactors.
5* Covers and rims must be kept with the drums even though drums are emptied. Drums will last longer end the resins can be kept cleaner and our processes will be m re
fficlent if covers end rims are kept with drums.
