Radtke, Director of Research The meeting was called to order at 2:00 P.M., with Mr. Bradley in the chair. FOREIGN PRODUCER REPRESENTATION ON BOARD It was unanimously resolved that the associate member of the Executive Committee of the Expanded Research Program be invited to attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee as an ob server without vote not only because of the extensive financial support being given by associate members to the research and industry development programs but also because of the contribution which his presence would add. The secretary was instructed to see that he should receive all notices and agenda of such meetings. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Minutes of the previous meeting of the Executive Committee of January 31, 195^ were approved. INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT FUND BUDGET REDUCTIONS LIA02825 The committee proceeded to a discussion of how the reduction in the Industry Development Fund budget for 1959 of ?3^,500, ordered by the Board of Directors at its meeting on December 1, 195& should be made. executive Committee Meeting -3- January 19, #59 "-iiJU.iL uTZUU--JW In discussing suggestions for the program for the 1959 annual meeting it was generally agreed that the number of reports of committees and staff be minimized and that the number of papers presented be reduced. It was suggested that the Electric Storage Battery Company be invited uo present a factual paper on uhe use of industrial storage batteries, with particular reference to the lead industry. PATENT POLICY The statement of the L.I.A. patent policy, prepared by the Patent Committee composed of S. D. Strauss, Chairman, Jean Vuillequez and J. A. Costello, vas approved as follows: The American Zinc Institute and Lead Industries Associ ation will obtain patents in the United States and foreign countries where warranted by technical considerations or potential commercial usage. In general, the rights to both paocnzed and ur.patenoed inventions owned by the two organi zations will be licensed on a non-exclusive, 'on-restricted basis in such a manner as to assure maximum usage of the invention at the earliest practical date.
