Young Plant Use of Asbestos - Containing Welding Blankets I understand there is some concern about inavailability in plant stores and among local supply houses, of suitable alternative to welding blanket fabrics containing asbestos. The Plant EPD endorses the practice of substitution as an effective health hazard control measure. However, our posture is to continue use of asbestos containing welding blankets when necessary, if suitable substitute material is indeed unavailable. Consequently, it would be necessary to establish special work practice procedures and monitor occupational exposure to dust.
