Campus Avenue Ontario, California Dear Mr. Drzewlnskl: This latter *111 confirm our conference on December 6, 1972. On September 7, 1972 Mr. J. Thome, Liberty Mutual Industrial Hygienist, collected filter paper samples In selected areas of the Ontario plant for analysis for airborne asbestos concentrations. The samples were analyI zed In our Hopklnton Laboratory utilizing a phase contrast microscope. Ke reviewed the attached Data Sheet which Indicates that all of the employees In the areas where samples were collected are ex posed to asbestos concentrations in excess of the currently ac cepted Threshold Limit Value of 3 fibers of asbestos greater than 5 microns In length per milliliter of air based on an eight hour work day and the proposed Threshold Limit Value of 2 fibers greater than 5 microns In length per milliliter of air. As Indi cated, the current Threshold Limit Value Is based on an eight hour workday; however. It carries a 10 fiber per milliliter cell ing which was also exceeded. As I Indicated to you, Mr. Thome and members of our staff recently mat with Mp. Moore In San Carlos and It was decided that no action will be taken in Ontario wit11 our recommendations are completed at the San Carlos plant and a resurvey conducted. Our recommenda tions would be essentially the same at the Ontario plant. I presented you with a copy of the San Carlos plant Evaluation of Airborne Asbestos Report of July 7, 1972 for your review and records.
