The attached article from " Food Chemical News," sent to me by Chuck Eby of our Washington Office, describes the reasoning FDA used to lower the PCB fish tolerance from 5 ppm to 2 ppm. Frankly, the risk reductions they calculate don't impress me very much. Nevertheless, the arguments and concerns voiced there point out clearly where we have our work cut out for us.
One thing that troubles me: Are we too late? That is, are the regulations, etc., already in place so that new information will do little to change anything?
