Schuman Regional Thief State of Michigan Division of Occupational health Merriman Road Eloise, Michigan 46132 Dear Mr. Schuman: * We have taken corrective action to provide improved control of asbestos dust in the tvo areas where the air samples that you collected were above the maximum allowable concentration. The ventilation line to the brake lining grinder in P-6 has been reconnected and is providing adeciuate control of the dust at the grinder. The exhaust ventilation at the chute opening on the ./ ' Pipel disc brake rad ^reform press will be revised with a hood larger than the chute opening so that the operator's hand with the container will he within the hood when the contents are dumped into the chute. This should provide satisfactory control. The equipment is not in use at this time, however, the changes indicated will be made before the Pipel machines are returned to production.
