e) Automated 4th Pipe Manufacturing Machine (Kubota Monthly News Letter 66.10)
Since September 1, the 4th pipe manufacturing machine has been in operation with some operations automated. The upgrade process for automation started from the mid-August.
In a series of operations from the first curing step after applying asbestos bandage and surface finish on the pipe to extracting the core from the pipe and setting it back, the area for the process of entering the curing chamber to setting the core back to the pipe was automated.
The curing chamber has a two-level structure. Asbestos pipes with the core and surface finish applied, are automatically and alternately fed to the upper and lower levels. At the exit of the chamber, pipes in the upper level and lower level are alternately and separately transferred down to the extraction machine, where the cores are extracted. The extracted cores are automatically pushed to the lateral direction, put down on a roller, and transferred through the space below the curing chamber to the axial direction to be returned to the area where asbestos bandages are applied.
The pipe-feeding operations, which have so fax been conducted manually, were mechanized by the completion of this automation process. The constant operation realized by this automation process has significantly contributed
