Calidria Asbestos
Ken Rush called me this morning to indicate that he had talked with Mr* Burnett of Johns Manville over the weekend about the Calidria asbestos project. Mr. Burnett will be responding in about three weeks.
He made the point that it would be better for us to take the position that we plan to continue the Calidria asbestos project but would sell if it a very attractive offer came along* This would be a better posture, and 1 believe we agree, than baldly stating we plan to get out of it, which can adversely affect our bargaining position*
Mr. Rush will plan to attend the workshop on Friday and 1 think we could look forward to engaging him in the discussion which will be used to refine the position you present.
Out of this should come a presentation in written form er the President's office which would include such matters as the gross fixed investment, the total invest ment before and after taxes, our plans for the project, and some indication of the range of value we will take for the project.
!
Mr* Rush would also like to have a summary of the kind of information we might give to Burnett or another buyer which would be designed to whet his appetite without revealing too much of the kind of information that is proprietary and part of the value of the project.
