Thank you very much for your letter of the 29th September, a copy of vhioh I am circulating to the Directors of those of our Companies which are concerned with this problem. I agree entirely with the remarks in the last paragraph of your letter, that although we are preoooupied at the moment with many other new problems, we must not allow any suggestion of slackness to creep into our methods of dealing with our standard problems, and I am sure that the Directors of all our Companies will be thoroughly in sympathy with our Tiews in this connection. I will let you know whether the above named publication has already come to the notice of our Companies primarily oonoemed. If not, I am sure that they will wi*x either to purchase a copy for themselves or to borrow yours in accordance with the suggestion in your letter. The reason I am writing is because so much work has been done on this in the past and it is so vitally Important to all those engaged in the industry. We are all so pre-oocupied in other directions, night shifts being the rule, that people are apt to get slack in regard to treating such a subject with the Importance it deserves, and if any such slackness oreeps into our organization we shall only be creating trouble for the future. I feel it is our duty to keep everybody up to scratch, in the interest of the people themselves and those who are to follow in the future management of our Conqmnies. Yours truly, 43
