Thiokol (producers of polysulfide resin) could become big Aroclor 1254 users (~ 250, 000 pounds/year) if Ford approve a polysulfide windscreen sealant. Thiokol have
a problem concerning the viscosity of Aroclor 1254. They want to obtain high viscosity material otherwise the sealant is too fluid and the bead of sealant sags when applied. They have noticed variations in viscosity of lots
AK-41-PD AK-22-CW
' AL- 5-CW
Further, they say our measuring temperature of 210 F is too high to give sufficiently accurate differentiation of what happens at room temperature (which is the appli cation temperature involved). Can you please measure the viscosities in poises at 120 F and 80 F.
Furthermore, what viscosities have you been running on Aroclor 1254 for the past six-twelve months. What vis cosity spec could be used to meet Thiokol1s needs by selection. Thiokol say material at the high specification range i O.K. Thiokol have promised to give me an accurate estimate of production needs and I'll pass them on when
received.
Thank yc u.
