Weaver February 16, 1977 SUBJECT: "Trouble in the Auto Repair Shop" Job, Safety & Health - December 1976 Issue You have previously received a copy of my letter of January 11, 1977 to the Editor of Job, Safety & Health, an official publication of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, complaining about the following incorrect statement attributed to me: "For auto mechanics, the greatest threat of incipient asbestosis occurs in service stations where 50% of all brake work is performed." As noted in my letter of January 11th, I never made such a statement but simply reported on the number of mechanics employed in various categories of garages where brake service work is performed. Hopefully the circulation of Job, Safety & Health is quite limited, however, the article has raised some questions and I think it important that the record be set straight.
