A3 you know, wa have several very serious reservations about the "invasion";, of Herculaneum by.a group of government scientists who 'probably ar ^ oblivious to the public relations implications of such an activity--particular ly in a town the sice of Herculaneum. Furthermore, wa are not prepared to submit tha data ve hava collected over the past year or so since w do not feel that it is representative of tha air quality wa sspeet to echieve in tha relatively near term future. This anticipated improvement relates both to tha completion of our recent expansion program and the fact that we will not have our sulfuric acid plant operating until later on this summer. Nevertheless, we are prepared to cooperate in studying tha viability of such a research program. This undertaking, however, cannot be interpreted aa a carta blanche approval of tha canmencement of these activities in the Hercu laneum vicinity at any tine or in any manner selected by the government or its agents.
