The responses below are numbered per your requests in that letter. 1. Vista is not familiar with RIFM. Vista has not had this product tested by RIFM, and is not aware of the adverse Monographs referenced. 2. There is published information available regarding the safety of natural lauryl alcohols. Vista ALFOL 1216 Alcohol is a synthetic alcohol. However, Vista ALFOL alcohols are equivalent to alcohols derived from natural sources. The FDA has published regulations which allows synthetic fatty alcohols produced by the process employed by Vista Chemical and meeting certain specifications to be used as across-the-board replacements for their natural counterparts in sanctioned direct and indirect food contact applications. 3. A Material Safety Data Sheet is enclosed for ALFOL 1216 Alcohol. Section V of the MSDS summarizes the acute mammalian toxicological testing that Vista has done on the components of this product. 4. As stated in Item 1, Vista is unfamiliar with RIFM testing. Product specifications for this material indicate that it contains a minimum of 98% C^ and linear alcohols, with a typical of 99%. The actual homolog percentages depend on the specific blend you purchase. 5. See response number 4. 6. Vista ALFOL 1216 Alcohol is on the EPA TSCA Inventory and the EINECS. The appropriate CAS Number is 68855-56-1. 7. To the best of our knowledge, this product contains no materials that are known to be toxic, an irritant, sensitizing or photosensitizing. 8.
