N. Leech May, 1976, Make the following changes: Step 62. When the pressure gauge on S-9 reads zero and S-9 is vented, sample 500 cc of the charge and determine the percent TCB following the method described below. Wearing rubber gloves, face shield and rubber apron, loosen the quick opening nozzle cover to be sure S-9 is not full to cover and that all pressure on S-9 has been released. Then, remove the cover for sampling. 2-AAQ Crude-Percent TCB a. Place 500 cc of the 2-AAQ Crude into a 500 cc graduate. b. Place a 20-inch long thermometer into the graduate and allow the liquid to cool to 25-50 C. c. When the temperature range is reached stir the liquid with the thermometer to assurp uniformity. Read the temperature half way up the liquid column. d. . Remove the thermometer and place a hydrometer having a 1.200 to 1.420 specific gravity range into the liquid. e. Read the specific gravity immediately. Read where the liquid touches the glass. f. On the nomograph find the intersection of the temperature and the specific gravity. g. If the intersection falls within the enclosed area, the percent TCB is 50 + 5$ and the lot can be drummed off. Page 3 October 20, 1976 ... If the intersection falls below the area, too much TCB has been removed and distillation should be stopped and the lot drummed off. 63.
