Grumbles dlj Attachment cc: Bruce Trego-Aber WV 000014186 contained bumps with diameters equal to the diameter of the finished product* Analysis Indicated the bumps were most likely caused by filler addition prior to complete plasticizer absorption during TwlteheU'* compounding process. 9. Carol Cable reported oven-aging performance problems with Visalia 2153E. Carol reported test samples falling from their hangers during aging process. Oven-aging test is complete. Thirty-throe percent of the samples tested fell to the bottom of the oven. This mode the specimens unsuitable for further evaluation. The remaining samples failed to exhibit the minimum retention of elongation necessary for UL approval. 10. Ameron of Brea, CA reported processing problems with Visalia A222 WHT color concentrate. Ameron claims twice the normal loading is required from lot F90224V to obtain the color of previous A222 WHT shipments. Subsequent lot of A222 WHT processed satisfactorily' A222 is a 5CV50 blend of Tl02 and Visalia 2150 PVC compound. TSL requested sample* from Visalia and Ameron for review. 11. Westwlre of Phoenix, AZ reported processing problems due to clogged screenpacks. The results of our work indicate the screen-pack was clogged with gypsum grains. Walt Hydash, Visalia's QC Manager, Indicated several customers have reported similar screen-pack problems. Walt believes the grains originate In Visalia's calcium carbonate. 12. National Wire & Cable of Los Angeles, CA reported odor problems with cable Jacketed with Visalia 309 GRY. National reported one customer complained that two employees became nauseous after opening a storage box containing 50 feet of National's cable. Sample odor was typical of high alcohol plasticizer with olefin and aldehyde included. Aberdeen Instrument Lab analysis indicated the plasticizer system contained low molecular weight unknowns. Samples were shipped to Austin for complete chemical analysis. 13. J.E. Ingram visited FLexlble Technologies, Abbeville, SC for an introduction and compound trial. The trial compound gave no advantages over the current 38601* 14. J. V. Miller attended an SPE seminar on Color Science In Plastics In Philadelphia. 15. J. V. Miller spent three days at Premiere Polymers learning more about color matching in flexible compound, (Thanks to Premiere for their help.) 16. R. D. Jackson visited Vlnylex with J. M.
