Total exposure hours for April is 12,478. Total exposure hours year-to-date is 50,825Last lost time injury occurred on October 2, 1982. Total exposure hours since last lost time injury is 383.857. II. TRAINING The employee safety training subject for April covered emergency operating procedures during electrical power loss. Procedure was reviewed, discussed and revisions explained. In addition, an actual power loss situation was created when main power trans mission to operating areas was intentionally (unannounced) in terrupted, the plant restarted in emergency mode operating on plant generator power, normal power restored and plant operation returned to normal power mode. The review of the power loss procedure and actual operating exercise are an important annual training subject because we are now entering into the seasons in which electrical storm activity is most prevalent. A newly hired production employee received safety orientation and indoctrination April 23, 1985. TEN 4396 L1IN200A Safety Apr I l, 1985 Page 2 III. GENERAL SAFETY ITEMS - Completed 1. Repairs to VCM point alarm digital display in the Reactor Room. 2. Overhead hoist operation warning alarm (bubble gum light) in stalled at reactor building. 3. Replacement of walkway on roof of reactor building. 4. Repairs to hinges on door at chemical hoist at reactor deck. 5. Replacement of sampling lines to points 9 and 10 of area VCM monitoring system. 6. Alarm system modification for reactor cooling water pumps malfunction warning. 7. Repairs to pot holes and trip points in plant driveways and walkways. IV. SAFETY AND HEALTH 1) Forty-three (43) employees were monitored for VCM exposure using charcoal tube method. Five (5) exceeded the permissable exposure limit (PEL) of 1.0 ppm without benefit of breathing air. 2) The Union/Management Safety Committee toured the plant on April 15- List of items noted Is attached. V. OTHER 1) I attended the Warren-Hunterdon Industrial Safety Committee meeting on April 18. Plans for the annual awards dinner on May 21 were finalized. 2) On April 24, Raritan Township Fire. Chief Roy Compton and Fire Marshall John Smith toured the plant pursuant to our pro grams of R.C.R.A. compliance loss prevention and community re1 ations. 3) On April 4, Mr. John Warsinky, N.J. Dept, of Labor-Office of Safety Compliance, inspected our propane gas storage tank and facility. He stated that the unit complies with state requirements for such a facility.
