In case you missed it, I am enclosing copy of an article reported in the press on May 11th concerning a bill passed in the Senate authorizing the expenditure of $300 million over the next four years to combat the effects of lead-based paint poisoning in children.
I suppose you know all about this legislation but the thought occurs to me that if Federal grants are to be made for research in this field, perhaps there is a role for Ilzro.

$300-Mii!ion Fight Approved On Lead Paint Poisoning
WASHINGTON, May II (AP) --The Senate has passed a bill authorizing the expenditure or_ S300-niil!ion over the next four., years to combat effects of leadbased paint poisoning in chil dren.
Senator Edward M. Kennedy,. Democrat of Massachusetts who. was manager of the bill, sai l upon passage Wednesday that it was estimated that 400,000' i children suffered from high I blood levels of lead each year. Many of them arc read.1 all by. eating paint chins in old horses.
The Federal grants would bo used for screening of children who may be affected, for re-. moval of lead based paint from walls or for covering up such paint and for research into the ' extent of the problem and the ' best wavs of meeting it.
