Algal NutrientMedium: Naturalseawater (34pptsalinitfyr)om an unpollutedsiteinByfjordN,orway, enrichedwithnutrientasccordingto ISO 10253 and recommendations from theParisCommission. This nutrient medium providedallmineralnutrientesssentiafloralgalgrowth and also served as thediluenftorallalgaloperations.The pH ofthissynthetiaclgal medium was 8.3.
Stock and testsolutionpreparation:A 500.8 mg/L primarystocksolution was preparedby dilutin0g.5008grams oftestsample in1 liteorfgrowth medium. Aliquotswere then added directltyogrowthmedium intestvessels to createtestsolutions.

The testwas runundercontinuouslight(> 50 pve-sek) from fluorescenttubesofuniversalnaturalwhitetype,ata temperatureof 20:t 2*C.

NOEC:

CULTIVATION:
The testorganismswere suppliedas adults(4-8mm insize)and were heldin aeratedseawaterat 15*C. A smallamount of naturalseaweed was used for feeding.
PREPARATION:
Naturalseawater(salinit3y4: %o) from an unpollutedsiteinBAorden outside Stavangerwas used fordilutiownater.Sediment conectedatan unpollutedsite was used forpreparingtestsediments.The sedimentisa muddy sand and was analysedfororganiccontentand proportionsilftoreach test.
Each testconcentratiownas preparedby addingtheproductin600 grams of damp sedimentina plastibcucket.200 ml of seawaterwas added and the bucketwas shakenfor3 hours.The sedimentwas dividedintothreebeakers, 400 ml of seawaterwas added to each,and thebeakerswere aeratedover night.10 animalswere thenrandomly selectedforeachbeaker.A sample qf thedamp sedimentwas analysedforwater content,and allconcentrationasre calculateads mg kg-Isedimentdryweight.
