Provided CBI warning to facility The following information was obtained verbally from Gold Eagle Co. unless otherwise noted. Process Description: Gold Eagle Co. (Gold Eagle) blends and packages products for the automotive industry, both under their own brand name and for other companies. Material is brought to the facility by a tank or tote truck from a distributer. Gold Eagle will take that material bottle it. They primarily bottle brake fluid, window washing fluid, and steering fluid. The process for bottling is generally the following: the bottle is filled, capped, foil sealed, cap is re-torqued, labeled, and packaged. There are some products that require blending onsite before bottling. These products are mostly Gold Eagle-branded products. In the blending process, there is no milling or reacting. Blended tanks are vented to atmosphere without control, except for a dust collector used when powders are added. Shipments of final product are picked up daily, multiple times a day. Gold Eagle does not have their own fleet of trucks. There is an underground tank farm onsite, consisting of 12 flammable storage tanks (ex. methanol, isopropyl alcohol) and 8 lubricants tanks. The tanks vent through a flame arrestor to atmosphere. Staff Interview: Gold Eagle moved to this location in the 1980s. The largest process at the facility and biggest focus is packaging. Gold Eagle makes around 600 products including, but not limited to, stable, gas-line antifreeze/water remover, appearance products, paint sealants, and tire coatings. The most recent changes have been replacements of simple machinery, and a new small production line involving a small filler, capper, labeler, sealer, re-torquers, and packaging equipment. The blending process was not in operation, but EPA walked through the area where the blending tanks are located. EPA observed the hook up points outside the facility were tanks and totes are brought to transfer product. The area where the underground tank farm was identified outside of the facility as well.
