Hey Samantha,
It was wonderful to meet you this morning, and discuss the priorities for Administrator Pruitt and the entire Trump Administration.
I was trying to place where I recognized you during the meeting today, and I think I found it.... I started with Senator Smith, but then moved over to Rep. Doolittle's office before heading to the approps Interior subcommittee. I think we worked on some California-specific legislation on flood control and dam funding for Northern CA. Also, I helped on both Romney campaigns, mostly heading up the Young Professional events in/around D.C. From that angle, if there is anything you need or assistance I can provide, please let me know.
As promised today, please find the attached letter that we sent the Administrator in late April, the same one I gave you today, supporting EPA's WaterSense program.
I am also attaching an infographic on IAPMO, which helps explain what we are and what we do. In short, we are a nearly 100-year old trade association representing the plumbing industry. We develop model construction codes (plumbing codes, mechanical codes, hydronic codes etc...) that are used throughout the country, and the world. Our headquarters is just outside Los Angeles, and we have over 29 offices (including 15 overseas). Additionally, we are the testing and certifying laboratory for the entire plumbing market. We test 99 percent of the plumbing products in our country, and ensure their safety, quality and compliance to state, local and federal laws/regulations. Without you knowing, you already have several dozen logos of IAPMO throughout your home (e.g. shower heads, faucets, toilets, pipes, water treatment systems etc...) that have been independently tested by us in order to be sold in the US. Essentially, anywhere buildings and humans come in contact with water, we are involved.
As an aside, we would welcome your boss and you to visit our world headquarters and testing laboratory in Southern California to see water quality and plumbing products being tested and verified for compliance in the US. We regularly host tours for congressional delegations and senior adminstration officials--most recently the new appointees at the Department of Commerce.
Finally, each year the CEO's of all the plumbing/water trade associations meet in D.C (e.g. IAPMO, plumbing manufacturers, Plumbing-Heating Cooling Contractors Association, Copper Development Association, American Supply Association, United Association (union plumbers) etc...) We are scheduled to meet on May 24, in Washington, D.C., and have invited folks for the EPA Office of Wastewater and Water to come speak. However, if your boss feels it would be a good use of his time to meet with folks, we can arrange a group to come your way...
If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please let me know!
