Dear Leila,
While the nation continues on its path to recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, the National Coronavirus Recovery Commission (NCRC) is providing actionable recommendations for all levels of policymakers to save both lives and livelihoods. As of today, the NCRC has developed 264 recommendations to guide all phases of the nation's recovery. The NCRC is comprised of experts in health care, business, government, economics, disaster relief, human behavior, and more.
Today, the NCRC is announcing 76 new recommendations for the fifth and final phase of recovery: reducing the future risks of pandemics. Mitigation requires looking back at where big-government policies failed and providing solutions for governments at every level to better understand the scope of both their responsibility and accountability before the next crisis. We hope they serve as a roadmap for the country to better prepare for future events.
These detailed recommendations build upon the previous 188 recommendations released by the NCRC for the first four phases of recovery:
1. Return to a more normal level of business activity at the regional level based on scientific data.
2. Slow the spread of the coronavirus while expanding testing, reporting, and contact tracing. 3. Continue to build the science. 4. Establish U.S. leadership in economic recovery.
The NCRC is thrilled that policymakers across the country are implementing many of our recommendations. We are also thrilled with the reception of our work by the general public and are very grateful to all those who submitted comments and information to assist in this effort.
The American people are eager to return to a state of normalcy. The National Coronavirus Recovery Commission will continue to provide policymakers with the most actionable recommendations available to save American lives and livelihoods.
