Thanks for joining for the 1:1 meeting between Dan Shine & the administrator. We are both keen to have further discussion about the administrator's interest in moving away from modeling and using more real-time data, especially for air quality monitoring. As mentioned, Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world's leader in ambient and source air quality monitoring. We've been working with the EPA & power customers for 40 years on this issue. Our international business has grown because other countries look to the US & EPA for guidance on how to set & attain their own air quality standards. This has driven a lot of U.S. jobs at Thermo Fisher, as we manufacture many of these monitors in Massachusetts. Once Henry Darwin is on board on July 10th, I'd appreciate your making an introduction to him so we can continue the discussion. We'll want to include our colleagues who've got the most insight on the issue. And of course, if Dan or I can assist with anything in the meantime, please let me know. As I mentioned, Rick Smotkin and I are close personal friends and colleagues. I would be pleased to work with you on the Australia trip. I am very close, personally, to the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and other key folks like the Minister for Energy and Environment, and see them often. I am typically in Aus 6-8 times a year, and all of it unofficial (other than my role at US Pacific Fleet as the Senior Advisor to our 4star Commander). Eve already penned something thoughts on potential activities and issues for a visit by the Administrator that I can forward to you if desired. Look forward to following up. Rick and I will be in Marrakech next week, and then he and I will also be in Portugal the following week back in DC July 14. So maybe we can get coffee that week. I also want to discuss with you some of the EPA activities in the innovation area. I also worked for 5 years at Special Operations Command, and found some of the EPA activities to be of interest - in particular the partnership with NASA to use sensors. So maybe we can put a variety of items on the agenda to discuss - including politics. I've been with Amb John Bolton for 35 years including serving as his deputy when he was Amb to the UN so I think we think alike!
