RE: FW: A couple of quick questions
Hi Kevin,
Please attribute our responses to an EPA spokesperson:
Has the change in leadership at the EPA over the past year caused any dialing back of environmental justice priorities?
Under the leadership of Administrator Scott Pruitt, the US Environmental Protection Agency has continued to demonstrate full support of the environmental justice (EJ) program activities and goals. Most recently, the EPA announced the selection of 38 community based organizations to receiving funding for EJ-related projects, a newlyupdated version EJSCREEN (the Agency's screening and mapping tool for environmental justice indicators) was recently updated, and the NEJAC and the Federal Interagency Agency Working Group on Environmental Justice (EJ IWG) continue active operations. Through these and other efforts, we will continue to provide support to communities facing environmental justice challenges, so they can improve health, protect the environment and grow their local economy.
Just sort of for some insight, what do you envision the applications of the screening tools being? (i.e. people researching where they might move, schools for their kids, etc).
Internally, EPA has found many uses for EJSCREEN. These include informing outreach and engagement practices, enhancing geographically based initiatives, and implementing aspects of agency functions such permitting, enforcement, compliance, and many other programs. EJSCREEN has also found many uses outside of EPA. The tool is used regularly by federal, Tribal, state and local government partners as well as nonprofits and community groups, business and industry, and academia. External uses of EJSCREEN range from informing policy, strategic, and programmatic decisions to crafting outreach tools and educational materials.

Hey, thank you so much for being accommodating, I appreciate it, if you can have them to me by COB tomorrow, that would be great, sooner is better, but COB of business tomorrow is OK, that is as late as I'd want to push it - Kevin
