While our nation holds firm in combatting the coronavirus pandemic and advances toward a healthy recovery, the National Coronavirus Recovery Commission (NCRC) continues to work tirelessly to
deliver actionable recommendations for all levels of policymakers to save both lives and livelihoods. The NCRC is comprised of experts in health care, business, government, economics, disaster relief, human behavior, and more.
Today, the NCRC published its final report to tie together all 265 recommendations of the commission's five-phase plan to reopen America:
Return to a more normal level of business activity at the regional level based on scientific data.
Slow the spread of the coronavirus while expanding testing, reporting, and contact tracing. Continue to build the science. Establish U.S. leadership in economic recovery.
Reduce future risk of pandemics.
This final report includes something critical to American recovery: stories from civil society institutions that are leading the private sector response. These are inspirational stories of private citizens - ordinary Americans - who have stepped up to meet the needs of their community during this trying time, along with private companies, non-profits, and churches.
The American spirit has always been one of resilience. Without neighbor helping neighbor and civil society stepping up, we would not have made the same progress toward recovery. It is time for our friends and partners in government to aid the people of our nation in unleashing the full potential of the American spirit.
The NCRC is honored to have worked with policymakers across the country who are implementing many of our recommendations. We are also thrilled with the reception of our work by the general public and are very grateful to all those who submitted comments and information to assist in this effort.
People are eager to get back to being able to see their loved ones, support their local restaurants, join their colleagues at work, and so much more. To that end, the National Coronavirus Recovery Commission will continue working with policymakers to provide the most actionable recommendations in order to save American lives and livelihoods.
