Hi everyone, You will see below that the meeting with EPA went fairly well. In my
discussion with Bernie this morning, we agreed on several points that you should be aware of: (1) It is critical that e n v i r o n get its hands on the most recent results of the primate study upon which we and 3M are basing their calculation of a reference dose. Bernie will ask internally and Joe should try to get it from his client at 3M; (21 He need DuPont's air monitoring/dispersion modeling results for the Lubeck coammity so that we will not have to use the 20/80 default assumption in calculating the new CEG for watar. Bernie indicated that there has been quite a bit of modeling and ha will get us the results; (3) The PFOA serum data from workers used the old analytical protocol and DuPont should know what the new protocol indicates the serum levels would be. For water, the new protocol would seam to indicate that the old method underestimates PFOA concentrations in water by as much as 10 fold; and (4) we should push 3M to adopt the ENVIRON document as its own and not issue a separate document that might suggest a difference of opinion. Joe, Bernie said that there was nothing that he was telling us that is confidential as far as 3M is concerned, so you are free to discuss any of this with them.
We should keep our deadline of 2 weeks to finish our document, assuming that we get the final primate study in a timely fashion. Internal DuPont and 3M review will follow the submission of the final document in two weeks. Bob
