Re: Invitation to give major plenary address August 23-24, 2019 - Steamboat Institute's 11th Annual Freedom Conference & Film Festival
Dear Mr. Secretary:
The Steamboat Institute, an educational organization with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, is dedicated to promoting the principles of America's founders and inspiring active involvement in the defense of liberty. On August 22-24, 2019, we will hold our 11th annual Freedom Conference & Film Festival, in the spectacular Rocky Mountain setting of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
I am writing to invite you to deliver a major plenary address on either Friday morning, August 23, or Saturday morning, August 24. You will find a very receptive audience -- from across the U.S. -- comprised of citizens who are deeply interested in maintaining individual liberty and reducing the size and scope of the federal government. We will have a capacity crowd of nearly 400 people, and anticipate that C-Span will televise portions of our event as they have done in past years.
Our audience will be especially interested to hear more about the BLM's relocation to Grand Junction, which is certainly great news on the Western Slope!
The Steamboat Institute has earned a nationwide reputation as a leader in advancing the founding principles of the United States of America. Previous speakers at our events have included then-Congressman Mike Pence, Vice President Dick Cheney, previous Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, Vicente Fox (President of Mexico, 2000-06), Nigel Farage, Steve Forbes, Laura Ingraham, Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Ambassador John Bolton, Victor Davis Hanson, Rep. Devin Nunes, Mary Kissel and James Taranto (The Wall Street Journal editorial board), and many others.
Confirmed speakers for this year's conference include Alan Dershowitz, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, Sara Carter, Jim DeMint, Jillian Melchior (editorial page writer for The Wall Street Journal), Steve Moore, and many others.

Your address will take place in the ballroom of the Steamboat Grand. Your remarks could be 3045 minutes, with an additional 15-20 minutes for audience Q&A. Alternatively, we could do a "fireside chat" format with one of our Tony Blankley Fellows interviewing you.
With our spectacular mountain setting, our Freedom Conference provides a retreat-like atmosphere for speakers and conference attendees to meet and collaborate on the important policy issues facing our nation.
We will provide air and lodging for you and a guest at the beautiful Steamboat Grand Resort (our conference hotel). We would also be happy to arrange for any recreational activities that you would enjoy, including private guided fly fishing, horseback riding, guided hikes, mountain biking, golfing or any other activities you would enjoy.
Secretary Bernhardt, we recall when you spoke at our California Policy Summit in Aptos in 2017, and we would be honored to have you join us again in August, as we celebrate 11years of promoting our founding principles and inspiring people to defend liberty.
