Re: Clean Water Act Compliance Evaluation Inspection
Dear Chairperson Schouviller,
During the first week of August, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) EPA provided notification to the City Clerk of a planned, upcoming site visit focused on the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the National Pollution Discharge and Elimination System (NPDES) permit associated with the Callaway Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) ("Facility" or "you") in Becker County, Minnesota.
On August 10, 2022, the EPA conducted a site visit at the Facility in Callaway, MN.
EPA Inspectors Jason Hewitt and Jessica Stromsdorfer arrived at approximately 11:25 AM CST and were able to walk around the facility and capture photos. Inspectors observed some algae growth in the ponds and murky water. There was approximately 2' of freeboard and no apparent discharge, odor, or visible solids near discharge point. Inspectors left the area at approximately 11:45 AM CST.
No areas of concern were identified during the inspection. EPA has determined that no further information is needed at this time.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this letter, please contact Jason Hewitt of my staff at Hewitt.Jason@epa.gov. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
MOLLY SMITH
