Watson [EXTERNAL] Flagging Legislation Audrey, We miss you deeply in Colorado but I'm so proud you're out there running the country!! I want to flag the below issue from one of my colleagues, Jim. I'm not sure you want to do anything about this but if you do, Jim is happy to chat. Here is the situation: SB1790 was filed by Senator Ellman at the request of The Center for Climate Integrity A quick glance reveals that The Extreme Weather Recovery Act essentially opens the floodgates to legal action against the oil and gas industry because of damages caused by any natural disaster related to climate change (and this bill essentially makes any natural disaster the result of climate change). It would prove devastating. I couldn't help but notice that the Senator is also employed by The Argonne National Laboratory, which is overseen by the Dept of Energy. It just seems counterintuitive/counterproductive to have a DOE employee filing legislation that would tie major American energy companies up in never ending lawsuits. Again , this is mostly just an FYI. Let us know I we can be helpful!
