Lanny,
There is one more option I would like DOI to consider. I have invited Kathleen Benedetto, senior advisor at BLM, to speak during one of our technical sessions. I would like for her to fill in the luncheon keynote spot.
However, she is not sure her travel will be approved. It would be very helpful if the Secretary's office would approve Ms. Benedetto's travel to Reno to be our keynote speaker on Wednesday, December 4.
Thank you,
Mark

Hi Mark:
I am truly sorry to share, but Kate's schedule does not allow for her to speak at the annual meeting. We at DOI are very supportive of the American Exploration and Mining Association and the good work that is done by your association. We also recognize the importance of the mining industry that provides the minerals that we use in our everyday lives; such as in manufacturing, construction, electronics, consumer goods and nutrition. Again, I apologize that the Secretary nor Kate will be able to attend the annual meeting, they are both very disappointed, but as I understand it, their schedules have them at the White House on the day you have asked for them to speak. Please let me know if there is anything further than I can do to help.....

Mr. Erdos,
We are very sorry to hear that Secretary Bernhardt is unable to speak at our Annual Meeting on December 4. We look forward to a future opportunity to have him join us.
I am wondering if it might be possible for Deputy Secretary Katharine MacGregor to speak on his behalf?
Thanks for your consideration.
Best regards,
Mark
