CCR 0038573 flSHEl} Confco& Series Eccentric-Disc Control Valves October 1975 | Bulletin 51.6:8500 Fisher 8500 Series adiscTM control valves feature an eccentrically mounted disc and a TFE seal ring to provide excellent shutoff against pressure drops to 740 psi. The TFE seal ring is effective with flow in either direction and can be used for process temperatures from --50 to +375F. Metal seal rings are also available. These 2-mch through 24-inch flangeless valves are compat ible with ANSI raised-face flanges and have ANSI Class 150, 300, or 600 pressure ratings. Features Exceptional Shutoff at High Pressure Drops* --TFE seal ring, with inlet pressure assisting sealing action (see figure 3), results in low leakage rates at pressure drops to 740 psi, regardless of flow direction Excellent Flow Control--Eccentrically mounted disc exhibits approximately an equal percentage flow character istic and can be used for on/off or throttling applications through 90 degrees of disc rotation; rangeability is 100 to 1 Streamlined Flow Path--Contoured disc increases capacity and reduces dynamic operating torque at large angles of disc opening Long Seal Life--Eccentric opening and closing path of disc (see figure 4) minimizes amount of moving contact of disc with seal, reducing seal wear and seating torque requirements. Also, disc does not contact seal at operating angles of opening, eliminating possibility of permanent depressions in the seal caused by prolonged contact with disc IMo End-Thrust on Valve Shaft--Dual packing elimin ates axial thrust that would be caused by line pressure acting on a blanked-off shaft end lit Figure 1. 8500 Series Velve with Type 1061 Pneumatic Piston Rotary Actuator and Type 3516 Rotary Valve Positioner Easy to Maintain--Fisher Type 1051 pneumatic spring-and-diaphragm and Type 1061 pneumatic piston rotary actuators mount directly on valve, and power actuator lever clamps directly to splined valve shaft, simpli fying removal and remounting of actuator Field-Reversible Valve Action--Action can be changed from push-down-to-open to push-down-to-close, or vice versa, without additional parts Self-Flushing Action--With standard right-hand actua tor mounting, bottom side of disc opens downstream away from seal, and flow stream flushes sediment from seal ' Patent for seal rmq applied fot Figure 2. Contoured eccentric disc design reduces friction and wear and allows higher flow for greater process efficiency. Special seal design and construction provide tighter shutoff and extended seal life. New V100 Vee-Ball Valve. Improved seal design provides tighter shutoff, even on fibrous slurries. Extension bonnet allows higher temperatures without special packing. Increased mounting flexibility for easier installation and maintenance, easy-e Cage-Style Valve. Standard valve bodies and (interchangeable trim solve tough process problems: high pressure drop, high temperature, erosion and corrosion, noise and cavitation. 9500 Butterfly Valve. A large choice of liners, discs and actuators match the valve to control requirements. Combines the benefits of an easily replaceable liner with the improved control characteristics of the Fisher Fishtail disc. Fisher Controls Company, Marshalltown, Iowa 50158. Sales representation worldwide and manufacturing in Argentina, Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Scotland and Spain. If it flows through pipe, chances are it's controlled by Fisher. CCR 000033577 Now Fisher has a valve To keep pace with ever-changing fluid-flow control requirements Fisher has developed two new highperformance rotary shaft control valves: the 8500 edisc valve and the VI00 Vee-Ball valve. They join our complete line--easy-e cage-style valves, 9500 butterfly valves, and many other styles--to give you the broadest choice of solutions to control problems available anywhere. Designed for throttling These new rotary shaft valves are not on/off valves adapted for control duty. They were designed from scratch for throttling service. Each has been engineered to perform to Fisher standards and tested to ensure that it does. They feature the tightest shutoff available today in rotary shaft control valves and offer enclosed linkage, low deadband and easy maintenance. Designed for economy Both the new edisc and Vee-Ball offer you Fisher quality and rotary shaft valve economy. In addition, inter changeable positioners and a choice of piston or spring-return diaphragm actuators help you save on inventory and maintenance costs. And fewer parts and compact design mean lower initial cost. Match the valve to your job Whether you're controlling gas, liquid, or slurry, you can match a Fisher valve to your job. Economically. Without sacrificing performance. Buy from a single source and you'll save time, money and paperwork. Dimensions (Inches) Installation The 8500 Series valves may be installed in any position. For maximum flow capacity, flow through the valve must be in the direction indicated by the flow direction arrow on the valve body. Direction of rotation of the disc must be counter clockwise to open (when viewed from the actuator side of the valve). Rotation in the reverse direction may damage the seal ring or disc. 6.
