While we are disappointed he can not attend, we do understand and appreciate you looking for someone to attend in his place. We would love to host Deputy Secretary Bernhardt in New Orleans, if available. In addition to having the Deputy Secretary, having a video message from Secretary Zinke would be wonderful. Again, I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you soon! I just wanted to touch base on the status of our invitation to the Secretary to speak at our Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA on August 9. Our CEO, Lisa Nelson, was at a roundtable with him yesterday and heard his reorganization plan for the state zones. We are hopeful he can continue this conversation and present these maps at our meeting. Our attendees would greatly benefit from hearing from him on this! We are looking to lock-in our speakers by this Friday. Do you think we can have confirmation by then? Thanks again! We were able to work together last year on Secretary Zinke's attendance at the ALEC Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. You were both so helpful! I am hopeful we can work together again as we are hosting our 45th ALEC Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA from August 8 - 10, 2018 and would like to invite Secretary Zinke to keynote our Thursday Lunch Session on August 9, 2018. Our attendees so enjoyed hearing from him last year in Denver! Please find attached the formal invitation from our CEO, Lisa B. Nelson. #1363525.2 Sierra Club FOIA - DOIOS-2024-000670 SC_EVERSPLIT0003491 We are looking to host Thursday, August 9 as our energy day. Since our attendees are made up of state legislators, policy experts and business leaders from across the country, we will be hosting a variety of workshops that morning all surrounding different energy sector issues. Our lunch session will continue this theme as we would like Secretary Zinke to speak on innovation and exploration taking place through the Department of Interior relating to energy. In addition to Secretary Zinke, we have invited Director Scott Angelle from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler from the Environmental Protection Agency. The day will be capped off with our Energy, Environment and Agriculture meeting that afternoon. Our hope from this informative programming is our attendees will take away a well-rounded approach to energy issues in their states. As you review, if you have any questions, please let me know. We are hopeful Secretary Zinke can join us and once again address our attendees. Thank you for your time!
