Application of ttlnolsa-R coopare in eoec with and application of smooth plantar plus two coata of paint. KUnolaa-K glvaa a covaraga of 6 aq. yda. 1/2" thick per 50-lb. beg, Jta N.R. coefficient la .50 and it has a sound-absorption factor of .63 at 500 CPS,
Kllnolae-S, ilka acanCard acoustic plasters, la appllad after the brown M a t haa eet. It worka perfectly over many types of bace coat: gypsum aoracch coat on m e a l latb; gypsum or Portland cement scratch and brown coat on Betel lath; 3/8" brown coat on gypsum lath, hollow d i e or brick. Kllnolae-S gives a coverage of 4% eq. yda. 1/2" thick per 50-lb. beg. Ice N.R. coefficient la .60 end' le haa o sound-absorption factor of .59 at 500 CBS.
MIXING -- for hand or machine application -- of Kllnolaa -R. or Kllnolae-S

This n u t be a 1-2 mix with either send or Lightweight aggregate and allotted to at.
'This gypsum scratch coat is nscessary over natal lath or clip system (Including nailable channels) of gypsum lath (perforated and noa-pexforated). It la unnecessary only over gypsum lath nailed to vood Joists.
2. Application of gypaiaa hrm m coat
Apply only after scratch coat Is safe and preferably before scratch eoat la dry. vLth sufficient pressure to Insure good nechanlcal bond. Gypsum brown coat must be a 1-2 nix with land or lightweight aggregate and m a t be free of Imps and foreign natter.
NOTH:
Sand or lightweight aggregate n u t meet A.S.T.H. Specifleatlona for plastering aggregates. aypaum cottar eonaletsncy oust conform with chat of goad plastering practices.
3. Application of Kllnolea-R
Apply to a (Animus thickness of 1(2 inch. Xf nachlne applied) spray on in one coat. Xf hand applied, use the 2-coit, double-up method. Apply Kllnolse-k before cbo brows mortar has aat. Tbs brown coat must be in a plastic state. Follow with straight-edging, _ darbylng and spotting to bring to a level surface ready for torturing.
Application by the ct-anifard Method -- for XilnOle-S only
1. Application of gypsum scratch cost (ever metal lath)
This must be a 1-2 d x with either sand or lightweight aggregate and allowed to set. Rake after application to establish goad meahanlcal key.
2 Application of gypstn brows cost
Apply only after scratch eoat 1 aej and preferably before scratch coat is dry, with sufficient pressure to insure good mechanical bond. Gypsum brown eoat must be a 1-2 mix with aand or llghtwsight aggregate and must be free ef lumps and foralgn matter.
DOTE;
Send or lightweight aggregate must meet A.S.r.H. Specifleatlona for
plastering aggregates. Gypsum mortar consistency must conform with
that of good plastering practice*.
3. Application of Kilnolae-B
Apply to a minleans thickness ef 1/2 inch. If machine applied, epray on in one coat. If hawk and trawl ere used, apply In 2 coats. The relative thickness of thssa 2 costa is dependant on 3 factors; the amount of auction; tbs type of aggregate in gypsies brown coat; the specific Job conditions. Fallow with nil necessary straight-edging, darbylng and spotting to bring to s level surface ready far texturing.

Application of Ktlal-R or Kllaolse-S over fort land Cegent Base Coat 1. Application of Portland cement scratch coat Ihia munt to a mixture oE 1 sack Portland cement, 1 sack Tiger Pressure hydrate lime or Tiger Miracle lima, h cu. ft. (Ji ft shovels) of sends 7 lbs. of hair or fiber. Apply with sufficient pressure to cling to Betel lath. Before mortar la set, score with wire stretcher to establish good mechanical key. 2. Application of portlend cement brown coat This oust be a mixture of 1 sack Portland cement, 1/2 aack Tiger Pressure hydrate lime or Tiger Miracle Una, 4*s cu. ft. (27 >2 shovels) of Band, 3% lbs. of hair or fiber. Before mortar is set, score with wire eerateher to establish good mechanical key. 3. Application of XUnolse-R or Kllnoise-S Apply over dry base coat tn a minimum thickness of 1/2 Inch. If ssachine applied, spray on la one coat. If hawk and trowel ere used, apply in 2 coats. Follow with straight-edging, darbylng and spotting to bring to a level surface ready far texturing.
WHEN asms A HIGH-VOLUME PIASTER MACHINE; Be sure to remove the screen from hopper to permit easy flow of material through pump. Operate machine st approximately 20 lba. psl pressure. Ose asms noerle as used te apply gypsum plaster. Spray Kllnolse to a uniform thickness of full 1/2 inch. Regulate speed of machine Co keep pace with Cbe mechanics. Darby material to a level surface. If a brush texture le desired, texturing can be done immediately after darbylng-. WHEN 1ISIHC HAND TEXTURING MACHINE: Surface should be textured when It offers sufficient resistance (usually 24 hours or more after application). Moisten hopper before filling with Kllnoise (see mixing instructions on page one). Operate machine at 12 to 18 lbs. pressure. Use T v o z x l e with 1/4 to 3/8-inch Orifice. Regulate texture by changing ori fice size, air pressure or material consistency, Or any combination of these. Keep ori fice free of foreign matter. Keep nozzle at slight angle, 12 to 18 Inches from surface. Move gun constantly to insure uniform texture. BRUSH TEXTURING: Brush surface uniformly to the desired texture. Surface can be brush textured isaaedlately after darbylng (or within a few hours). For best results, keep brash clean and free of materiel bulld-up at all times. PERFORATING: Use nail perforator uniformly over entire aurface after texturing, and only after a slight crust has formed on surEace. For best results with Kilnoiae-R, ,, perforate 48 hours after application; for best results with Kllnoise-S, perforate 24 hours after application. Keep nolle wet, clean and free of fibers. Flatten all hanging fibers with Light pressure of clean, rust-free trowel.

" W A I R S i If damaged, Kilnotaa can ba rpairad. First, cut out the damaged area. Nhlp Kllnoise to fluffy consistency, w chat 1c will be Che seat density as the surrounding material Bsmpen the patch with cleea water {to a width of 2 or 1 Inches} completely around the Joint. Apply 2 coats. Stlppla and perforate Sana aa lit tha original application of lllnoisu. Caution; Avoid matarlal build-up around adge of the patch.'
CLEM8KC: Cleaning m y ba necessary occasionally, particularly In areas around anewcats. Voe an ordinary vacuum eleaaor with brush attachment, or a n u l l whisk brows.
PAUTDIC: Make sure no fibrous hangings are showing (those can be removed with s vacuum vr the udgo of a trowel) Dampen the calling with elean water (this ellsdnstas excessive paint suction into the Kllnoise). Bo not wet too far ahead of painters; allow AO ft, as maximum distance ahead in a room 30 ft. wide. Feint only with a water* h u e (casein type) paint, using standard rollers or spray equipment.
SPECIAL TIPS
Aldgea and depressions should bo eliminated, providing n level snrfaee for brush or machine texturing.
Whenever possible, complete work at point of termination, rather chan leave Joints overnight. With Kilnolse-S, when 2A hours or tore elapses between coats, rake surface of first coat lightly to establish good mechanical key.
Highlighting is necessary Ear a more piessin* and malatenancc-freo serfaen. For bast results, highlight immediately after perforating, Alvaya m e a clean, znst-free trowel.
Usdermixlng will fall to give full coverage.
Overmixing w i n prevent surface from attaining desired hardness and cause bond (allures.
SPECIAL TIPS...for Kilnolsa-R only
Tha binder cape on gypsum lath must be completely removed, otherwise glue from tape may causa separation between brown coat and gypsum lath.
Over a clip aystem of gypsum lath (Including nailable channels) allow scratch coat Co set before applying brown coat. This la necessary to develop safflclent strength to prevent gypsum lath frost "saddling" .

G I B M ! This will S <14 extra beauty to a celling. It should be of a non-tarnishing type, and applied In dry fora either by a glitter gun or tv a small hand-type texturing machine. When using Kilnoise-R, spray the glitter In a uniform pattern, usually one day aftsr application. When using Ktlnolse-S, spray glitter on issoadietely aEter brush texturing. The glitter should be highlighted very lightly to insure a permanent bond.

BONDING AGENTS: He do not recoumcnd the use of XHnolse over aapbslt emulsions or similar bonding agents. Products such as "Plaster-Weld", "link" and "Duraweld" ere best suited for this purpose. When'applied in strict accordance with these manufacturers1 specifications, and used In full strength, such bonding agents will hold Kilnolaa to any surface except those covered with water-besc-or casein paints. Always apply Kilnolaa directly over the hooding agent -- never use a gypsum brown coat between them.
