"This bipartisan resolution is an important step toward repealing the so-called `methane fee'-- a duplicative, punitive tax on American energy production that stifles innovation. Thanks to industry action, methane emissions continue to decline as production increases, and we support building on this progress through smart and effective regulation. We applaud Sen. Hoeven, Rep. Pfluger and members on both sides of the aisle for their efforts to undo this misguided rule, and we look forward to working together on full repeal and pro-consumer polices that embrace American energy leadership." The WEC rule is redundant and penalizes early adopters of methane-cutting technologies. U.S. oil and natural gas producers are already regulated under EPA methane standards.
