EPA NSPS for GHG for New Coal Plants Comment Deadline and January 8 Public Hearing

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking comment on its recently announced NSPS for Greenhouse Gas Emissions from New, Modified, and Reconstructed Electric Generating Units which would replace the prior administration's regulation for greenhouse gas emissions applying to new, modified, and reconstructed coal power plants.
The newly-proposed regulation sets a CO2 emissions standard of 1,900 lbs/MWh for sources with heat input >2000 MMBtu/h. The prior regulation was 1,400 lbs/MWh and required partial carbon capture and storage to achieve.
The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed regulation is February 19, 2019. Comments should be identified by Docket number EPA--HQ--OAR-2013-0495 and submitted online at https://www.regulations.gov/.
Additionally, EPA announced today it will hold a public hearing on this proposal on January 8, 2019 in Washington DC. Details on the hearing are available here. The last day for pre-registration for the hearing is January, 2, 2019. The American Coal Council will speak at this hearing.
