The following cargo tanks were at this time sandblasted and tank internals recoatad with Susirfean 191 inorganic a Inc coating: (a) Nos. 2 port/starboard wing tanks. (h) Kos. -4 port/center/starboard tanks. (c) Ho. 5 center tank. (d) Mo. 7 eerier tank. 32. The outside and inside surfaces of the shell plating were examined and considered, in satisfactory condition. 33. The main deck plating was examined and considered in a satisfactory 34. All overboard scupper and discharge valves were opened, overhauled as required end closed up in good order. 36. In amldship sewage holding system osdsewage treatment plant located aft were installed as per approved Newport Hews Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company?s Drawing Mo. 283258 dated 3 August, 1978. Modification included the following: (a) Installation of a fixed butierworth system. (b) Mew pining and cargo valves installed including heating ceils, (e) A deep well pomp welt and enclosure was installed. (d) How vent valves with flame screens installed as required. 48. The existing dining rooms and galley were converted at this time tc cafeteria type system. All structural removals and additions were examined and considered satisfactory. The main thrust bearing ms opened, thrust collar and pads examined and found satisfactory. Clearance checked and closed up in good order. 54. The main propulsion rcdisetion gear unit was examined insofar as possible without lifting the casing, the gear tooth contact was examined and found satisfactory. 55. The line shafting, line shaft bearings, and thrust bearing were examined and found satisfactory. 56. The sain steam lines were examined and considered satisfactory. 57. The non-metallic expansion pieces in the main sea water circulating system vere examined internally and externally and considered satisfact ory . 58. The ahead and astern maneuvering valves were examines and considered satisfactory. 59. The foundations ox the main and auxiliary machinery were examined and considered in satisfactory condition. 60. The pumping arrangements including valves, piping and strainers were examined and considered in satisfactory condition. The- bilge system was operationally tested, emergency bilge suction valve internally examined, and considered in good order. Other systems vrar tested, as necessary and considered satisfactory. 61. The dual clectro-hydraulic steering machinery was examined, operationally tested, relief valves checked and considered satisfactory. 62. All fire extinguishing apparatus including portable and fixed systems were examined, main and emergency fire pumps tested and proven operation; emergency fuel oil shut-off arrangements and means for closing machinery space openings examined and all considered In satisfactory condition. (d) Main air ejector. (e) Main L.G. coolers. (f) First, third arid fourth stage heaters. (g) Fuel oil heaters. 65. The main condenser inlet valve box and return heads were found locally wasted and were renewed at this time. Both were fabricated as per the* original Kewport Kews Shipbuilding Drawing No. 625-305 dated. 24 February, 1956, modified as necessary to suit welded plate construction. The water box cover was fabricated of 2n steel plate. The watc-r box . and division plats were fabricated of 1-1/8V steel plate. The return hea< was fabricated of 1TT steel plate. The fabrication of bath the wafer box and return head was examined during construction, all welds were satis factorily examined by magnetic particle inspection caul all worI< consider ed satisfactory. The interior of both the water box and return head were both blasted and coated with glass flalce epoxy. The water box, cover and return head wer-e subsequently hydrostat ically tested and proven satisfactory. The water box and return head were rigged aboar-d the vessel and installed in. good order. 66. The following pumps were examined, opened up as necessary, examined and considered in satisfactory condition: (a) Main circulating punip. (b) Auxiliary circulating ptnno, (cl Two main condensate pumps, (d} Auxiliary condensate pump. (e) Three main feed pumps. (f) Fire and Lutterworth pump. (g) Shaft alley bilge pump. Cnj Fixe pump. Main and auxiliary switchboards, distribution panels and control apparatus including circuit breakers, fuses and connections wore examined and. considered satisfactory, 73. Electrical circuits including cables, their supports ana connections, ware examined so far as accessible, insulation resistances checked and all considered in satisfactory condition. 74. Vital service electric- motors were examined, opened, out and cleaned as found necessary, insulation resistances checked and considered in satisfactory condition. 75. The inboard 1000 KV? ship's service generator and exciter were cleaned, insulation resistance measured end considered in satisfactory condition. The voltage regulator and exciter was at this time renewed as per* approved General Electric Co. Drawing No. 44*T2422S2, tested, and considered satisfactory. xm. (b) T$$e internal desuperheaters of both boilers were hydro-tested and considered tight. (a) /leap furnace inner and outer casing wells of both boilers wore removed, insulation renewed and casings reinstalled. in good order.
