Metal Protective Finishes
S-W Metal Protective Paints
.Requirements for Metal Protection
Water and atmospheric fumes promote the cor rosion which destroys iron and steel. The protec tive film, therefore, must be highly impervious to these elements and tenacious in maintaining a con tinuous film.
The priming coat must--(1) Contain pigments which retard or inhibit corrosion. (2) Be hard enough to resist abrasion and yet elastic enough to accommodate the expansion and contraction of metal.
The finish cool must -- Protect the priming coat. The type of paint and the number of coats required depend upon the nature and the severity of the exposure expected.
Kromik Metal Primer
An (`list:iprimer for iron and steel. It prevents rust through the inhibitive action of its pigment--a carefully balanced combination of zinc chromate, red lead, zinc oxide and iron oxide.
Although Kromik Metal Primer is formulated as a First Coat to be covered with finish coats of Metalastic or KemELestic, the protection afforded without re-coating is equiv alent to the best top coats--a great advantage where steel must stand for long periods of lime before the field coat is applied Kronhik is a good primer for weathered galvanized iron hut is not lecommendcd for new galvanized iron.
Characteristics: Applicative--By brush or spray. Drying Time--To touch in 4 hours; recoat overnight. Coverage Per Gallon --500 to 600 Sq. ft. Color--Browrt Change E 41 Nl.
Rem Kromik Primer
I Consists of the proven pigment combination of Kromik Metal Primer with a synthetic vehicle which offers more rapid drying' and excellent durability Color--Blown E 61 N2.
