Dear Al and David,
Thank you very much for your messages and willingness to meet. We appreciate the opportunity. I think I can make Monday at 4:30 work if that is not too late in the day. Monday morning at 10 might also work. I'll round up four other people and be back in touch.
A discussion is what we'd like and we're not there to deliver a letter. I'm sorry though for the bad links in the letter. I'll provide those over the weekend.
Al, I appreciate you providing the cell number. I hope to try you early in the afternoon after some daughter commitments are wrapped up. I would be calling from my cell: 202.368.9885.

Dear Steve,
Administrator Pruitt's office has asked that Al McGartland and I take this meeting as the administrator is unable to do so. Al was out of the office all day and probably hasn't seen this request yet. So I think it would be best to aim for Tuesday.
I can meet anytime after 10 except for 3-4.
Please let us know what times could work for you and let us know who will be joining you. If you want an actual discussion, I ask that you limit your group to 5 people. The interpersonal dynamics of one or two talking with twenty just doesn't work. If you just want to deliver a letter and make a statement then the size of the group doesn't matter.
Also, the letter you linked to in your message has a footnote with apparent links to statements by various societies. However, there are no active links for any of them. Please, send copies of the statements or functional links to the statements.
I look forward to meeting you and your colleagues.
Sincerely,
David

Hi David and Al,
I'm not sure if we have had the opportunity to meet yet but I am handling scheduling for Administrator Pruitt. Samantha asked me to reach out to you both and ask if you would please handle the meeting below? It is time sensitive as they are requesting a meeting next week. We are unable to do so on our end but would like for a meeting with them to still happen. Please let me know if you are able to get a meeting arranged. Thank you in advance and hopefully our paths cross soon!
Thanks! Sydney

Dear Administrator Pruitt,
I write to request a meeting with you for Monday or Tuesday, March 20-21 for scientists participating in the seventh annual Climate Science Day (CSD). We would like to discuss climate science with you and offer our help to you on this issue. We have no policy ask and respect that science is but one input of many to policymaking. We also recognize that policymaking is beyond the expertise of our members. Our goal is for the you to be informed by the best available science, which we believe is provided by scientific associations. By virtue of these societies representing tens of thousands and sometime hundreds of thousands of members, we believe the scientific societies are uniquely position to present a balanced view of the science.
Climate Science Day (CSD) is organized by about a dozen science professional societies whose purpose is to connect scientists across a wide range of disciplines involving climate change with the Administration and Members of Congress. Besides the American Statistical Association, participating CSD organizations include the

American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society, the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Crops/Agronomy/Soil Societies.
27 scientists are scheduled to be in DC for CSD and we would schedule a subset of them to meet with you if the meeting were accepted. The scientific societies' view of the changing climate is summarized in this 2016 letter to Congress signed by 31 scientific professional societies or institutions: http://www.aaas.org/sites/default/files/06282016.pdf.
Thank you for your consideration.
