Reporter's Q: Jan. 2 Warren-Markey letter re. Tennessee Gas Pipeline spill
2018.01.02 EPA KM signed Markey-Warren final [3].pdf

I'm wondering if EPA administrator Scott Pruitt has had a chance to read a Jan. 2 letter from Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey. The two wrote to Pruitt with concerns about a wastewater spill in Agawam, Massachusetts associated with interstate natural gas pipeline construction.
The Connecticut Expansion Project was recently completed by Kinder Morgan's Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. 16,500 gallons of contaminated water was spilled in Agawam on or around Nov. 20.
KM today blamed a contractor for the breach, and said it will take "appropriate action," which doesn't tell us much. The contractor previously denied that the discharge reached a nearby stream.
Warren and Markey, in their Jan. 2 letter, asked if the EPA will require any additional testing at the site. They asked if testing results will be made public. They asked for EPA's cleanup and public outreach plans if contamination is found. They asked what steps will be taken to prevent further incidents. They advised that KM and its contractors should not be taken at their word.
See attached letter.
The Region I Boston office sent Tennessee a Dec. 12 notice requesting information about the incident. I found the notice in the project's FERC docket.
What is the EPA's response to Warren and Markey?
Thanks
