Supporter,
Under Scott Pruitt, the Environmental Protection Agency sought to roll back /G environmenta regulations, including proposed bans on extremeiy toxic chemicals.
Now he's gone and the new Acting Administrator, Andrew Wheeler, says he wants to turn over a new leaf and has pledged to be more transparent than his predecessor but actions speak louder than words. So we're calling on Wheeierto take action on four of the most toxic chemicals that Pruitt faiied to regulate.
Will you join us in calling on the new Acting EPA Administrator to take action on toxic chemicals?
These chemicals are notoriously dangerous and should have been banned years ago. Chlorpyrifos is a neurotoxic pesticide linked to brain damage in kids. ICE, or trichloroethylene, is a carcinogen found in the tap water supplies of 14 million Americans. Methylene chloride and NMP, or N-Methylpyrrolidone, are highly toxic chemicals used in paint strippers. Methylene chloride has been linked to more than 60 deaths.

While much of the media attention on former ERA Administrator Scott Pruitt focused on major problems with ethics and transparency, he also did everything he could to avoid protecting our health and the environment. Mr. Wheeler has the opportunity to turn over a new leaf for Trump's ERA and protect Americans from these four highly toxic chemicals.
Methylene chloride and NMP can be found in many paint strippers on the shelves of your local hardware store. At least 84 American families have lost loved ones who were exposed to methylene chloride fumes. And NMP is linked to miscarriage and stillbirth. The Obama ERA proposed banning these chemicals from paint strippers but eighteen months later, the ERA hasn't moved forward. Every day of delay could mean another life lost.
Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide that can harm kids' brains and nervous systems even at small doses. The Obama-era ERA proposed banning its use on food crops but Scott Pruitt sided with the pesticide lobby over ERA scientists and delayed the ban for at least five years.
7C, made famous by the book and movie "A Civil Action," is used in industrial processes and in dry cleaning. This carcinogen contaminates the tap water supplies for 14 million Americans. The Obama administration proposed banning it for many uses but Pruitt's ERA indefinitely delayed the bans.
Join us and call on Mr. Wheeler to protect public health and finish the job of banning these harmful chemicals.
Thanks for your support,
Liz Hitchcock, Acting Director Safer Chemicals Healthy Families
