BILL SHINE IS TEAMING UP WITH ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI. According to CNN, "Scaramucci will be hosting an online event on Friday where he will address the American people directly. Scaramucci said this daytime event -- which will be broadcast on various live platforms with help from former Fox News co-president Bill Shine -- will give him the opportunity to reach and communicate with the President's base."
Shine is personally close to Scaramucci, and was rumored to be in line for a White House job after he dined with the president, first lady, Scaramucci, Sean Hannity and other Fox News hosts at the White House just last week. Now that Scaramucci is out, it's not clear if that possibility is still in the cards. But Shine, ousted from Fox in May, has found at least one thing to keep him occupied.
--Mike Cernovich and BuzzFeed News acquired and published Scaramucci's "communications plan" for the White House before he was fired by President Trump. The draft memo, which the former Wall Street financier had planned to send out to staff, discussed common priorities for a political communications team, like getting ahead of the news cycle and filling the "content void." But Scaramucci, whose tenure was quickly enveloped in controversy following his explosive interview with The New Yorker where he ripped into Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon, also stressed the importance of "[making] it clear that horn tooting and denigrating colleagues is unacceptable." "The Mooch," as he's widely-known, also discussed the need to "foster better working relationships" with the mainstream media, while repeating his talking points about cracking down on White House leaks. Read their reports here.
--Scaramucci still sees a future for himself in politics, Business Insider's Linette Lopez reports , "especially now that he thinks President Trump owes him a favor for his role in getting rid of former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. This is obviously a gamble, but it's completely in character." Lopez, who has known and reported on Scaramucci for years, goes deep in the profile, exploring who Scaramucci is, where he comes from and why he attached himself to Trump. She also reports that the sale of his firm SkyBridge Capital is still happening, valued at just under $200 million.

"BRADY ROOM BRAWL" -- that's what The New York Times' Michael Grynbaum called

yesterday's' fireworks-filled briefing with White House senior advisor Stephen Miller about new plans to curb legal immigration. First it was with Times correspondent Glenn Thrush, who asked what research backed up the policy proposal. Miller tried to argue at one point about using common sense as Thrush kept pushing him about statistics studies, leading to Miller lashing out at Thrush saying "maybe we'll make a carve-out in the bill that says the New York Times can hire all the low-skilled, less-paid workers they want from other countries and see how you feel then about low-wage substitution."
Next up was CNN's Jim Acosta, who recited a portion of "The New Colossus," the poem engraved on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, and asked about the requirement that an immigrant know English before moving to the U.S. Miller and Acosta argued about what year the poem was added to the Statue of Liberty, before returning to the language issue, with Acosta saying many immigrants learn the language later in life. "Are we just going to bring in people from Great Britain and Australia?" he asked rhetorically.
That's when Miller dropped the money quote: "Jim, I can honestly say I am shocked at your statement that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English," Miller responded. "Actually, it reveals your cosmopolitan bias to a shocking degree."
More from my colleague Nolan McCaskill here.
-- Keep in mind that it's likely President Donald Trump and his base loved watching this. Curbing immigration is Trump's core issue and today's announcement and briefing, was lapped up by Trump's cheerleaders (just check out Ann Coulter's twitter feed). So while reporters might hem and haw about how Miller acted in the briefing room, remember who the true intended audience likely is.
TRUMP LAUNCHES 'REAL NEWS' ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE, hosted by his daughter in-law Lara Trump, the series on Facebook launched on Sunday said "Want to know what President Trump did this week? Watch here for REAL news!"

FOX IS IN TALKS TO OPERATE LOCAL TV STATIONS WITH ION MEDIA, "potentially paving the way for Fox to dump Sinclair as an affiliate partner," Bloomberg reports. "Closely held Ion would contribute its more than 60 independent stations to the joint venture, while Fox would throw in its 28 local stations, which include big markets such as New York and Los Angeles. As part of the deal, Fox would consider switching its affiliation to Ion from Sinclair for 26 stations that are up for renewal this year."
--Sinclair executives told shareholders on its quarterly earnings call that local news needs more consolidation. "Right now there are three to five local players, and to us that doesn't make sense," CEO Chris Ripley said Wednesday during the call, adding that consolidating news

operations would lead to "significant savings." The company also said that it expects its acquisition of Tribune Media to close this year.
DAILY MAIL, HUFFPOST LEAD THE PACK IN JULY FACEBOOK ENGAGEMENT FOR NEWS OUTLETS via Cristiano Lima: New rankings by NewsWhip Analytics place The Daily Mail, BoredPanda, HuffPost and CNN at the top of the class for total engagement by news publishers on the social media network last month. All three outlets cleared the 20 million threshold for Facebook interactions in July, followed closely by NBC, The New York Times, BuzzFeed and Fox News. It is the first time The Mail has led the rankings, which the analytics group attributed to the organization's re-energized "focus on the US market." Breitbart is also in the top 15, just behind the Washington Post. See the full rankings here.
DONALD TRUMP THREATENED TO SUE THE PRODUCERS OF SYFY's SHARKNADO for not casting him as the president, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The filmmakers originally wanted to cast Sarah Palin as president in the third installment of the absurd film series, but when that didn't work out they turned to Trump who accepted the role. A contract was sent, but was followed by silence from the Trump camp. Turns out he was actually planning his very real campaign for president. When the producers decided to move forward with their back up, businessman Mark Cuban, Trump was furious. "[W]e immediately heard from Trump's lawyer," Sharknado studio head David Latt said. "He basically said, 'How dare you? Donald wanted to do this. We're going to sue you! We're going to shut the entire show down!' "
COREY LEWANDOWSKI AND DAVID BOSSIE'S BOOK GETS THE TITLE IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO HAVE: 'LET TRUMP BE TRUMP.' Last year Ken Vogel and I reported that Lewandowski had a $1.2-million offer from HarperCollins to write a book chronicling his time running Trump's presidential campaign, but the publishing giant backed away from the deal amid concerns about Lewandowski's nondisclosure agreement. The tentative title then, which Lewandowski denied he was shopping around: "Let Trump be Trump." That's the same title of the book to be released in December by Lewandowski and former campaign aide David Bossie.
THE U.S. PRESS FREEDOM TRACKER, WHICH LAUNCHED Wednesday, is the latest collaborative online tool to track violations of press freedom. A joint effort by the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Freedom of the Press Foundation and numerous other press freedom groups, with the help of our former colleague Peter Sterne, the tracker will monitor and document instances of "arrests ofjournalists," "equipment searches and seizures," "physical attacks on journalists" and "border stops ofjournalists" in an attempt to shed light on efforts to undermine the freedom of the press. Inspired and funded in part by then-GOP candidate Greg Gianforte's body slam of Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, and his ensuing $50,000 donation to the CPJ, the group tells WIRED it hopes the database will serve as a tool in the battle against threats to freedom of the press.
