The Honorable E. Scott Praitt Administrator U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Mail Code 1101A Washington, DC 20460
Dear Administrator Pruitt:
I have the great pleasure of inviting you to address the leadership of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) during the National and Chapter Leadership Conference (NCLC) that AGC will hold in Washington, D C., from September 24 to September 27, 2017.
AGC is the nation's largest commercial construction trade association, representing more than 26,000 corporate members through a network of over 90 chapters in 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Our construction firms are engaged in building, heavy, civil, industrial, utility and other construction for both public and private property owners and developers. Collectively, AGC member firms build most of the nation's public and private infrastructure.
At the NCLC, the chapters' presidents and vice presidents--typically, the owners, presidents and/or chief executive officers of their individual companies--will join the association's national officers for three days of intensive discussion of the many issues confronting the construction industry. The NCLC would provide an opportunity for you to speak directly to the local, state, and national leaders of the construction industry. Your appearance would encourage their commitment to working with EPA in a positive and constructive effort to improve the environment. I would suggest a morning briefing from 8:45AM to 9:45AM on Tuesday, September 26, but of course, AGC would seek to accommodate any alternative time that your schedule might require.
AGC is eager to work with EPA in a joint effort to improve environmental regulations and to explore ways to assess environmental progress. AGC is excited about EPA's recent invitation to become a "Smart Sectors" partner. We are encouraged by the priorities of the new and improved program and have already begun to share ideas with your Office of Policy staff on how to make environmental permitting more timely, predictable and consistent.
On behalf of AGC, and its chapter and national leadership, I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Stephen E. Sandherr
