I received this morning a blind copy of latter dated April 9, 1970 addressed to jmu by Congressman William F. Ryan.
Eoriy last week I was advised by Henre Wilkin of our New York Public Relations Office that he had received information that hfr. Ryan had scheduled a press conference to dbans PCfo. A prompt check reflected that Monsanto hat no offices in RyanIs district and therefore no constituent interest. I made two calls on Ryan's office, believing that If he would see me, i night be able to shed some light on his apparent problems with PCfo. Ihtse calls proved fruit!ess and the lint ComtnimtcaHan I have had ii Ms office is the copy of your April 9 letter.
I have studied our P.R.Y respome la Ryan's press conference. In which Howard Minckler Is quoted, t foe! fried (he release Is a good one, particularly since It slaps the Congressmanh wrist for net contacting thoee who have Ml Information. |he release is; however, not responsive to the April 9 letter. Allhougfo the letter invader sensitive areas which we probably vritl not answer, t am confident that you will respond to certain obvious questions. It occurs to me that it may be appropriate la schedule dkcussian with Mr. Ryan and yea smry want me to set up an appointment for John Mason and me ta Howard Minckler's absence.
