API Statement on Confirmation of Paul Atkins as SEC Chair
WASHINGTON, April 9, 2025 -American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers issued the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of Paul Atkins to lead the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
"We congratulate Paul Atkins on his confirmation, and we look forward to working with the SEC to restore commonsense policies and put an end to flawed rules that confuse investors rather than advancing meaningful dialogue between businesses and their shareholders. Atkins' clear-eyed approach will promote investment and remove barriers to meeting consumer demand for affordable, reliable energy."
