All - I am emailing you because you are 1) people I consider friends and 2) people who may be able to stop this. I can't tell you how hard I have worked to get Indian country to be supportive- show up to the meetings, telling them we have to be in the room. I have stood up against the Civil Rights groups, of who I have partnered with for years and I am the Vice President of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and told I told NAACP, La Raza, etc... we are not going to sign on to your letters. I told them we are going to support the nominees we believe in like Zinke and Gorsuch. I organized all the Indian groups and told them lets dig in on the agenda pieces we can create opportunities on. I was happy the other day when I saw the EO's including Tribes with other governments and I knew that we had champions internally working for us. PLEASE .. please ... stop this "Pocahontas" name calling - I tamed the waters last time this happened and was told by someone that was with Trump JR. that now that the President knows how offensive it is to us he won't do it, which I told to tribes to get them to pivot and work with this administration. We have are conference this week... and are giving our State of Indian Nations.. I don't want the press to be about this petty stuff - I want it to be about partnership for infrastructure, jobs and economic development. Please take this message in the spirit it is offered. Best always, Jackie
