MR STEAMFOTER!
The tie rods of this boiler, as it is shipped, have regular steel washers and steel nuts on both ends--front and back. Alter setting boiler, the steel nuts on front end of rods should be removed, but not the washers. You will find special compression washers and safety nuts included in bag of parts. Slip the compression washers over the front end of rod, placing the open or cupped side against regular washer. Then attach the safety nuts in place of the steel nuts re moved. Lubricate them liberally and tighten with FINGQtS ONLY. Do not use wrench.

2. Attach SBokspips collar to rsar section.
Install crown sbsst balfls on 3, 4 and 5 ssetion baiters. To install balfte, Insert it through hrs door opening lengthwise, with narrow plain edge hist, and keeping Qanged side down. Tarn baffle inside boiler so that east lettering "To front" will face front of boiler. Place tbs right tide of baffle on top of side lug and push to rear until notch on left side bnM op with lug on left side of boiler. Then lift the left side of naffie over the log through the notch and pash back so that rear edge rests in slot formed by break in Bn* on rear section When installed, the baffle, with flanges down, is supported by lugs on sides of sections and by slot in rear.
Attach door hinges and catches but tight en bolts only moderately. Lock doors in posi tion with hinge pins. Door should lift over patches easily and does tightly. Adjust doors by tapping binge and eaten lightly. After ad justment, tighten hinge and catch bolts.
Putty outside of sections at joints with boiler putty.

Remove rim and glass from gauge and set movable pointer under automatic pointer. Replace
rim and glass.
5. INSTALLATION Of BURNER AND COMBUSTION CHAMBER--Where steel combus
tion chambers are used, the boiler is skipped witk chamber in place and burner can be
mounted directly on burner plate. Where HEAT-LIB-O-RATOR pre-cast combustion chambers
are used, install as per instructions packed witk chamber. Recommendations far kand built
chambers are given on Page 7.
NOTE: Draft tube for reading draft in combustion chamber can be inserted through a
hole in service door which is open when sight glass shutter is moved into open position.

CAUTION

ATTENTION TO BOILER WHILE IN OPERATION
Eeep water in steam boiler at proper level (4* visible in gauge glam). If bailer is operated during summer time, it is recommended that tbs water line during this period be carried about 1* higher.
Eup water systems filled to Vi of expansion tank (as indicated when moving painter of altitude gauge is even with stationary painter). ON A CLOSED HOT WATER SYSTEM THE PRESSURE MUST NOT EXCEED 30 LBS. IF IT DOES IT MUST BE RELIEVED IMMEDIATELY AND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE RELIEF VALVE INVESTIGATED AND COPRECTO, OTHERWISE PRESSURE MAT BUILD UP AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HEATING SYSTEM.
ON STEAM BOILERS--At the start of each heating season and once or twice during the season try Safety Valve to be sure that it is in working condition. To do this fasten wire or cord to valve lever and pull lever standing safe distance away from valve.

On water boilers keep systems filled with water, in other wards, leave water alone. It is advisable fa loll to drain a little water to remove sludge but not more than neoessary.
IF BOILER IS NOT USED DURING WINTER TIME IT MUST BE FULLT DRAINED (SEE INSIDE OF FRONT COVER).
