Good afternoon, Ms. Getto.
Attached is a copy of NPC Acting Chair Greg Armstrong's letter of today inviting Secretary Ryan Zinke to attend the September 25, 2017 National Petroleum Council's Meeting and Reception in Washington, D.C. It is hoped that Secretary Zinke will be available to join Secretary Perry, the NPC Government Cochair, at the September 25 NPC functions to continue the spirit of their Energy Week event held at the U.S. Department of Energy on June 29.

The Honorable Ryan K. Zinke Secretary of the Interior Washington, D.C. 20240
Dear Mr. Secretary:
The National Petroleum Council (NPC) is scheduled to hold its 127th meeting on Monday, September 25, 2017, starting at 3:00 p.m., in Washington, D.C., and invites you to address its members. This will be our first meeting with the new Administration.
I have the honor of being the Vice Chair of the NPC and I am currently serving as the Acting Chair because our Chair, Rex Tillerson, became one of your fellow cabinet members.
The National Petroleum Council is a federal advisory committee to the Secretary of Energy and has contributed many valuable studies to successive administrations since being established at President Truman's request in 1946. The 186 members, mostly chief executive officers of oil, natural gas, power, and related companies, are appointed by the Secretary of Energy. For the first 30 years of the Council's existence, we proudly advised every administration through the Secretary of the Interior. Since being transferred in 1977 to the Secretary of Energy, the Council has continued a strong interaction with the Department of the Interior as many of our studies involve aspects within the purview of your Department. We hope for a healthy continuation of this interaction as we address energy issues for the Trump Administration.
Secretary Rick Perry is the Government Cochair of the Council. The September 25 meeting is being held at his approval and he will address the NPC membership. I think that our members would be highly appreciative of the visible message being conveyed by you joining Secretary Perry - one of a coordinated Administration working together to address energy issues. Such would be a continuation of the spirit displayed at the June 29 Energy Week event at the Department of Energy when you joined Secretary Perry, the President, Vice President, and other Administration officials. The agenda on September 25 can be organized for the convenience of Secretary Perry and you. For your information, as a federal advisory committee meeting, it will be open to the public.
The Council is hosting a private reception following the meeting from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and we hope your schedule will permit you at attend. Our members would welcome the opportunity to informally visit with you and other invited senior Administration officials during the reception.
