Administrator Wheeler: John Graham, President and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives, and Steve Caldeira, President and CEO of Household & Commercial Products Association, have asked me to reach out to you to gauge your interest in receiving the 2019 Energy Good Scout Award. The award would be presented at the National Capital Area Council Gala, to be held Wednesday, October 30, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the JW Marriott here in Washington. The other two honorees this year are Leslie Sarasin, President and CEO, Food Marketing Institute, and Charlie Tate, Managing Partner at Tate and Tryon.
If you accept, you would join an illustrious group, including leadership from the House and Senate Energy Committees -- Jeff Bingaman, Fred Upton, Lisa Murkowski, and John Dingell have all received the award. I have attached the list of prior honorees; do not let the fact that I received the award in 2017 dissuade you!
As an Eagle Scout, you know firsthand how important a strong scouting council can be for a community. The National Capital Area Council serves young people in the DC metro area and has an impressive record of accomplishment outlined in the attached 2018 annual report.
The only expectation of you as an honoree is to join the event in person and provide brief remarks. National Capital Area Council staff will handle all the event logistics and administrative work.
I have attended this gala the last few years, and can assure you it is a top-notch event for a great cause. Please let me know your thoughts.
Tom
