Concerning the paragraph below from the plan. Will EPA continue to maintain and fund into 2018 and beyond the Great Lakes National Program Office in Region 5? The EPA's funding o f specific regional efforts such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the Chesapeake Bay, and other geographic programs will be discontinued. EPA will follow the direction of Congress on priorities associated with these programs. As laid out in the Agency's draft FY 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, the Administrator's goals are designed to transform the way the Agency does business and more efficiently and effectively deliver human health and environmental results. One of EPA's highest priorities must be to create consistency and certainty for the regulated community. The rule of law must also be built on the application of robust science that is conducted to help the Agency meet its mission and support the states in achieving their environmental goals. Research, in conjunction with user friendly applications needed to apply the science to real-world problems, will help move EPA and the states forward in making timely decisions based on sound science.
