J-M is nominating Ivan Sabourin. as Coronittee Chairman and Raines as Secretary. Solon would be J-M's voting member. Also discussed was the role that Hr 11 loacwltoa. may play m the activities of the Committee. ACTION a) First meeting of the AIC/NA is planned for early November. J-M is preparing an audio visual presentation covering need, accom plishments and future plans to be presented at that time, b) The decision was made to defer at this time establishing contacts in Washington with officials in HEW and other government agencies and departments dealing with environmental health matters. The P. R. Sub-Committee feels this is an area in which AIC/NA, speaking for the entire industry, could be most effective and could begin the contact procedure immediately following the first meeting only three weeks away. 2. The Sub-Committee feels that the situation with regard to the banning of asbestos products is fast becoming a serious problem for the industry. Indications are that asbestos-containing products other than spray compounds may soon be regulated or banned because of potential public health hazards The Sub-Committee recommends that a special committee re-assess J-M's posture in this area, considering the potential adverse effects in both the U. S. and overseas.
