SECTION 5 - HEALTH EFFECTS
Routes of entry for solids and liquids include eye and skin contact, ingestion and inhalation. Routes of entry for gasses include inhalation and eye and skin contact.
Toxicology Test Data:
Rat, Oral LD50 - > 10 G/KG Practically Nontoxic
Rat, Inhalation Safety Screen, 6 hr - 25 C No Compound Related Adverse Effects
Rabbit, Dermal LD50 - > 7940 MG/KG Practically Nontoxic
Rabbit, Eye Irritation - 5 DRAIZE: MAX=110 Minimally Irritating
Rabbit, Primary Skin Irritation - 1.8 DRAIZE: Slightly irritating
MAX=8
Aout Overexposure Effects:
Contact with the eyes and skin may result in irritation. The low vapor pressure of 79-P essentially eliminates an inhalation hazard unless the material is heated or misted, overexposure to hot vapors or mists of phthalate esters may cause nausea and respiratory tract irritation. Prolonged or excessive contact with the liquid may cause skin or eye irritation. Ingestion could cause abdominal cramps nausea and diarrhea. Repeated (21 day) oral exposure in rats led to liver disease and testicular atrophy at a dose of 2.5 g/kg/day. No testicular effects were seen in rats treated for 7 days.
Chronic Overexposure Effects: There are no known chronic effects associated with this material.
First Aid Procedures - Skin:
Wash affected areas with soap and water. Remove and launder contaminated clothing before reuse. If irritation develops, get medical attention.
First Aid Procedures - Eyes:
Immediately wash eyes with running water for 15 minutes. irritation develops, get medical attention.
